This was taken after church today. I just had to share...they are pretty cute. :)

During lunch, G-Money started screaming in "pain." He said there was something stuck between/behind his bottom teeth. So, we told him to go brush and that would probably get it out. :) He came back downstairs and said, "it's still there." So, I looked, and sure enough...it WAS still there. He has his first permanent tooth poking through! It's behind the baby teeth. I guess we'll be making a dental appt. this week. I have some vague memory of knowing someone with this issue, but i just can't remember if its a big deal or nothing to worry about. :) I'm taking the later approach until I hear differently from an expert. (You might be an expert on this...feel free to give me your advice. :) )
By the way...Caroline is offically potty trained. :) It's been about a month and we've had a few rough days, but I'm only putting diapers on her at nap/night. First time I haven't been changing diapers all day long since February 2004. WOW. :)

Erika, we had the exact same thing happen to Chloe and I freaked out and took her in the next day. The dentist sort of laughed, but not in a way that made me feel dumb. He said he sees it all the time and it wasn't something to really worry about. He didn't pull her baby tooth but just told her to wiggle it more so it would come out. She did and it did.
But in our case her "shark tooth" as we lovingly began referring to it was pointing toward the inside of her mouth. That isn't something the dentist fixes - the orthodontist does.
Here's my guess (and that's all it is) - they will probably tell you to wait it out. He'll lose the baby tooth and once the permanent one is on it's own they will decide if it needs help being moved into proper position.
That's when you get to sign over your whole tax refund check to the other guy in a white coat who works with teeth.
Hope that doesn't happen to you all!!
Boone, what a sweet picture of those three! By the way, we love our sweet dentist who works with kids. . . and she is right close to the zoo, so you can go there afterward as a reward! :)

Your kids are so sweet! Yay for potty training, we're still working on that for #3. Isaac has the same problem as G and it has happened twice now. The first baby tooth fell out and the permanent one just shifted nicely into place. Now there is another one right next to it, so we are hoping it all goes well again. Dr. Perrett said if it didn't fall out on its own soon, he would need to pull it, so we are trying to have him wiggle it a lot so we can avoid that intervention.
Same thing here with the tooth situation. No worries as it will probably take care of itself. :)
Way to go on potty training already! I am WAY impressed. I usually don't even start to think about it until they are 2 1/2 or so. Any tricks? I am always open to wisdom...and it sure would be nice to be done with diapers again. :)

We just had the same tooth issue. He said if she didn't lose the baby tooth in 3 weeks he would pull it. She lost both bottom teeth 2 days before the appointment. But now she has some crazy looking teeth. I already know the orthadontist is in our future.
Steffen just went through the shark teeth thing too. The first tooth got very wiggly, so I felt confident it would "take care of itself", and it did. I DID talk to the DDS, and he said if the baby tooth is wiggly, they (DDS) do nothing. But once the permanent teeth are almost all the way in, and the baby teeth didn't come in, they'd pull them. So, for his second tooth, it didn't get wiggly, so once I could really see it was affecting how the permanent tooth was coming in, I made an apt. Sure enough, he (DDS) explained that if the permanent tooth does not come in close to where the baby tooth is, the natural process of "dissolving" the root of the baby tooth doesn't happen, so the baby tooth will not come out w/o an extraction. So, if G's teeth are wiggly, it probably means nature will take it's course. If NOT, you'll probably need an extraction. In both teeth case, the permanent teeth do "slide" into proper position. So we got lucky with one, not so lucky with the other. (you should have seen the size of that root!!!!!) :)
