Today should be a Holiday

Did you know that today is the first day of the college football season? My life will not be the same until after January 1. That's ok, I kind of like it! G Money has been carrying around his "Cocky" all week, playing the fight song over and over. He's got the last line down: "The fighting gamecocks lead the WAY!!!!" He trys to sing along, but it's a little too fast for him. Maybe I can catch it on video sometime this season so you can enjoy it too.
Go Gamecocks!

Singing with G Money

This is what we do at night. There is no visual, but the audio is pretty sweet.
You'll have to excuse MY voice.

The Boys

Heavy D has learned to crawl...it's more like an inchworm scoot. The other day I heard him grunting and scooting along and when I peeked at him, he had made his way all the way to see Dixie Lucinda. She is so sweet with him. Sometimes she just cozies right up to him and he plays with her ears and lips. I'm thankful for a dog with a maternal instinct.

On Sunday after church we had our annual church picnic. When we walked past THIS, we just had to stop. All of us went down (except Heavy D) and we had a great time.

New Teeth

Heavy D has cut his fourth tooth! Very exciting for everyone except this nursing mom. Please pray that he will drink formula from a cup. We are working on it, and he is doing ok, but I don't feel like he is getting enough to replace the dropped feedings. I'm trying to drop another feeding right now and he is not happy about it. It's breaking my heart, but it needs to happen. Pray for me, too...I need to stay strong. Posted by Picasa

Traveler

See the dog on the left? That is T and S's sweetie, Traveler. He is like their child. Really. I know he will be demoted very soon when little Skeeter makes his debut, but for now he is their child. And I almost killed him today.

Right now T and S are in SC living it up with the fam and Traveler is livin it up here with Dixie Lucinda. They are great buds and he likes to stay with us, except that we don't take him out to play everyday. Poor boy. He hangs out in the backyard with DL and mopes while T and S are gone. And, since all of my maternal instincts are being directed at two little munchkins, I don't have much sympathy for him.

Last night, he got himself into some mischef. We have this ant problem and they have been finding their way into our garage and into DL's food dish. So, I've had an ant trap on the ground in the garage for about 3 weeks to try to get rid of the little beasts. Nobody has noticed it for three weeks. Not a dog has even sniffed it. Until last night when Traveler decided he wanted to know what was inside. I opened the garage door to find him looking very guilty and the ant trap cracked open. I could see all the poisionous gunk inside, so I didn't think he'd eaten anything. I put it in the trash, fussed at him, and brought him inside to watch him. He was fine all night. I even called our friend, Dr. Todd the vet to see if I should do anything...

WELL. This morning I put Traveler outside and G Money and I go out to play in the dirt. (I have these plants I bought on sale and I'm dying to put them in the ground so they will LIVE.) The next thing I know, Traveler is puking all over the yard. (well, only in 2 places, but i just hate dog puke. it makes me puke.) So, I go to check out the garbage and sure enough, the dog has plucked out the ant trap (and only the ant trap) and eaten all the arsenic gunk!!!!! He even put the trap back in the trash when he was finished.

So, I put the two babies in the car and head across town to the vets where they are keeping him to watch him. He is going to make it. Poison control says they have to ingest about 75 mg of arsenic to die and he got less that 1 mg. So, they are running some fluids through his body to flush it out of him. I can't believe I almost killed my sister's first child. Sorry, Toot.

Traveler is going to stay at a friends house until Friday. I could take it personally, but I'm not going to. Let's face it...I have 2 babies and a dog of our own who is relatively low maintence (excpet at 6 am) and I can't give the poor dog what he needs. He will be MUCH happier at the friends', and I promise we'll take you to the park on Saturday, Traveler.

A Picnic in the Mountains

Last Thursday we decided to get out of town for lunch. So we packed up the car and headed west and had a little picnic. It started raining at the very end of our short hike and we made it home in time for naps. I think we both realize that we need to spend more time in these mountains. It's great to be able to look at them everyday, but it is so relaxing to actually be there. I still can't believe we live in Colorado.

Conversations...

Mommy: "G, where is your horse going?"
G: "To the farm!"
M: "Oh how fun! Who is he going to see at the farm?"
G: "kittens."
M: "How many kittens?"
G: "2"
M: "What color are they?"
G: "red and neen"
M: "what are they doing?"
G: "PLAYING BASEBALL!!"

That is really what it all comes back to in our house. Baseball, Airplanes, and Dirty Trash Trucks.

Also overheard yesterday morning when I was getting breakfast for him (pictured above--a happy face on his yogurt), a little voice from the table piped up, "I am apple juice man!!"

Jumping

After their bath tonight, the boys had fun jumping together. This is really poor quality, but you get the idea.

Dirt Bikes

We went with T and S downtown last weekend to see the dirt bike show. (I don't really know what it is offically called. I'm not into that stuff.) So it was pretty impressive. I mean, I was really nervous for these guys flying through the air. Lemme just say that I don't know what I'll do if my boys decide to get into extreme sports. Pray, pray, pray.

G money's first look at the bikes in the air. I can't say anything else. His face completely describes how much he enjoyed himself. We haven't stopped talking about dirt bikes since.

Oma and Pops

Some Beach Shots...

Well, it took me long enough to get these off of Hubby's computer. I finally have a quiet night at home and can look through them all. Just a few of my favorites from our photo shoot by the marsh. We had fun! It sure is hard to get that many people to look where they are supposed to and smile. :)

Fuzz Head

Heavy D's 7 month shots...Aunt Shin has been practicing with her new swanky camera. She's pretty good!!

The hair is natural...really. We don't have to do a thing to it.

blueberries

This boy LOVED picking blueberries and blackberries in his Oma's backyard. They came right off the vine into his mouth. THis is the funny face he makes when he eats something sour or cold. What a goober.

We're back...

and I'm drowning under my laundry. when I have more time, I'll be uploading pictures and posting from our trip. Let me just say that I love South Carolina, but it is so good to be home! (It is sunny and 66 right now...I LOVE IT.) Maybe we can get grandparents and aunts and uncles and cousins to move west...

I'm Having Fun in SC, too!!

Heavy D has spent some of his time in the laundry basket this week. It's great because he can sit there and not topple over and all of his toys are in reach. It's the simple things in life that make him happy. His cousin, Olice is one sweet boy!! They are three months apart--very cute.

Playing at Oma's

This was quite the setup in the backyard. G loves the water...we'll see how he does with the ocean next week!!

G Money spent some time the other day washing the car at Oma's house. He had such a great time with the water and suds.

We are having a great time at home in SC. We are beach-bound tomorrow and will probably not have internet, but if so, I'm sure I'll have some fun pictures to post.

The Popsicle

G Money had his first popsicle tonight. He LOVED it. Do you see the trickle running down his arm? We threw him right in the bath. (By the way, we are 4 for 4 with the potty and I'm one happy mamma.)

House Picture, part 2

T and Hubby added the shingles...took way longer than expected. Oh well. Now we are waiting for the painter! Anyone want to buy a car? :) Check out house picture part 1 to see the difference.

The Guest Room

well, all of you who stayed in this room when it was NASTY can really appreciate the transformation. Even the dresser was painted...we still don't have pictures hung on the walls, but it'll get done eventually. Now this room is ready for company...but you have to wait until T and S leave. And then, you'll probably want to stay in their swanky new house!!!

Living it up with the family

Well, T and S moved in last weekend...so we are at a week of living together. They are downstairs in our newly remodeled guest suite and I guess they are feeling like they have their own little space. Although, it's not very private. We warned them that we can hear everything that is said in a normal voice through the bathroom vents. SO, they are pretty much restricted to whispering if they want to say anything private or anything about us. I'll let you know if they slip up and say something juicy.

There are benefits to having your sister and her hubby living with you. For example, this morning I came down after my shower to find the dishwasher UNLOADED. That may not seem like such a big deal, but it made my morning. I hate unloading the dishwashwer. (Every morning, over and over...) What a nice treat!

Another benefit--great babysitting. Earlier this week I got to go out for about an hour during naptime. That usually only happens when my hubby is off work. That was really fun for me! THEN, they watched the kiddos again on Thursday night while we headed to our favorite place to eat. We came home to a dark house and EVERYONE asleep.

Other benefits?
A new chair in our living room from their house. Now we can all sit down comfortably.
Someone to make me do situps every night. Uggggh.
S gives great sisterly back rubs
They help clean up!! Dishes, vaccuming, etc.

Oh, I could go on and on...we might not let them leave.

I just found out today that the house behind us is going on the market in a few months. Too bad they didn't wait on that house project of theirs. It would be so fun to have them as backyard neighbors. The cousins would have so much fun!

Just an update...

Well, it's been a while. I didn't realize how much time had gone by until I went to post this morning. Sorry to all you faithful ones. (HA! Like there are faithful ones out there...I really have no idea sometimes who looks at this thing. Why don't you let me know? It'd make me smile.)

We've been busy this month, but it has been such fun stuff. Heavy D started eating cereal and is trying to roll over...he flipped from tummy to back, but hasn't really done it again. That boy is so ticklish! He'll just giggle and giggle whenever you touch that fat belly or arms. I just can't get enough of him.

G Money is loving the change in the weather and has become obsessed with being outside. He will do a running commentary as we drive down the road--checking to see which houses have basketball goals and which don't. From the back seat I will hear a quiet, "no ball hoop." "No ball hoop." Over and over...until he sees one and then he SCREAMS, "BALL HOOP!!!!" It's a good time. I forgot that a while ago (over a year) we put a video of G money dancing on the web. I found it again the other day and just laughed so hard. Maybe you'd enjoy it too, but probably only if you know him and love him...otherwise, it'll just look like a baby dancing.

G was hanging out at the neighbor's yesterday, looking longingly at his "ball hoop." Thank you, "Ungle Todd" for helping make his dreams a reality. HA!!
